When I first started to talk about LifeStation (the community of faith I am part of), I would show people a map of a seven-mile radius that has PSU York at the center. I would say something like “this is the area we want to impact.” It almost communicated you can’t be a part of LifeStation unless you live in this area. Then I would share that LifeStation’s mission is to equip followers of Jesus to declare a different way to live life in the places where we live, work and play. See the contradiction?
God has laid South York on my heart because I live there and my family spends a lot of time in the PSU York neighborhoods. But that doesn’t mean that everyone that is a part of LifeStation should have these neighborhoods on their heart. I don’t want to limit who God is calling us to equip.
Currently LifeStation is meeting for services in and around the PSU York neighborhoods. So our simple presence in these neighborhoods should have an impact. God has shown me that for me to say that this is our “focus” is a bit arrogant. It is almost like me saying this is where God wants to use LifeStation. But in reality God has this area on MY heart because He wants ME to have an impact here. So I am going to ask Him to raise up others who also want to impact this area. I am going to ask God to introduce me to other Christians that already live in this area so we can work together to make a difference.
As God brings clarity to my heart, I ask that you would ask God to bring clarity to yours. Where is your life stationed? Is God stirring your heart to have an impact on the people who live, work or play there? As God stirs your heart I would love to hear about it, and I, along with others, will do our best to encourage and equip you to go after the things God is placing on your heart.
