When life comes fast

That is how I feel right now. I feel like life is happening right in front of my eyes and it is so hard to keep up. Busy? Yes. But, busy with good things. Too busy? I’m not sure.

It seems have if I am in a season where I have a lot going on yet I seem to have a peace and joy in the midst of it. How do I have peace and joy when life is coming so fast?

1. ENJOYING THE MOMENT. I am learning to be slow in the midst of all that is happening. A lot happens each day, but in the midst of the busyness I am trying not to rush. I am trying to enjoy each moment, each person, each breathe I take.

2. GUILT FREE LIVING. Typically I’m very good at beating myself up for what I do or do not do. But as life comes fast and as I enjoy each moment, I find myself being more and more okay with excepting what I did or did not do. I’m being less and less hard on myself.

3. NOTICING GOD. As I enjoy this moment and live guilt free I am noticing God more and more in the midst of the mundane everyday “Ordinary Life”. I am noticing more and more that God is with me. I am not alone. This is allowing me to TRUST Him more. My faith is increasing and my worry and stress is becoming less and less.

THE RESULT:
Life keeps coming faster and faster but I have tremendous peace and confidence in God. Right now I am so outside my “comfort zone”.

As a family we are getting ready to have a 4th child. We lead/host a neighborhood Intentional Community that is more relational then it is programatic. I’m a part-time hospice chaplain and seeing God do great things. I pastor a local church that is just getting started. And I’m volunteering as a varsity Defensive Line coach for our local high school football team.

I would not have picked to be doing these things 5 years ago. I would have never guessed it. 5 years ago….wow that came fast. Who knows what the next 5 years holds? I don’t. But I know it is coming fast and I am thankful that God is teaching me to live “when life comes fast”!
