The last five years have flown by and time seems to be going faster and faster. Yes, I know I am getting older. So much has changed, yet my faith in God and desire to follow Jesus remains.
Man, the world of construction is soo difficult. Deadlines, bids, budgets, subcontractors, vendors, and don’t forget the weather. We do crazy construction where we aim for both quality and speed. In my opinion our companies remodels are some of the best in the country. Our quality is good and we complete a full interior/Exterior fast food remodel in 30 days or less. I am proud to be a part of GCMbuilt.com.
But man it has not been an easy road. Last year our company doubled in size to handle the request of our largest customer. We almost tripled the amount of projects we complete in a year. It was a year filled with challenges and successes.
This year I been given no choice but to let go of three employees who were making bad decisions both personally and professionally. This stings as we view our employees like family. Many of my team members are having, or know someone close to them who is batteling, health Issues.
The weekends fly by and to be honest I don’t look forward to facing Mondays. I work long hard days and often into the late night, with a family break in between.
the midst of this businesses it is easy for me to grow tired. It is easy to look back and remember how God was using me 6 years ago and miss it tremendously. 6 years ago I was walking in such intimacy with God and life was so sweet. I had time to simply BE with God and others. I was fully aware of what God was doing in and through me. Often I want to go back. I want to run to what was so sweet and what had become so familiar.
But I believe God is saying to me
Jeremy, I invited you on this journey and you have listened. I am with you. I am doing a new thing and you are learning. Now let’s try this again….
See I believe that wherever my life is stationed I am to share my faith and life with others. I believe it, but man is it hard. God is challenging me to discover how to walk in the same intimacy with God and others as I did 6 years ago. To BE who I am created to BE. I look forward to this season, but I know it will not be easy. For me growth happens whenever I turn my future over to God fully unsure of what the future holds.
God is saying…let’s try this again. Let’s focus on Jesus and trust that he will guide us as we commit to following Jesus and his teachings.
