Gospel and my life

I have really been thinking a lot about missions and outreach the past couple of months.  Working with a 9th grade football team in my community really opened up my eyes again to the desperate situation our world is in.

This morning as I was reading in 1 Thessalonians and  God reminded me that the fruit of the gospel is often the result of investing your life into others.  Check this verse out. 1 Thessalonians 2 8

We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.

The questions that must be asked is do I really love those who I am sharing the Gospel with?  If I do then I should also be willing to share my life with them!!!  God, open up my heart to love as you love, to care as you care.  God bring me to the point that I am willing to share and sacrifice my life for others not just for the sake of the Gospel.

The Dash

It would be interesting to see what people think when they read this title.  A sprint?  A movie?  A cell phone?  Actually what I have been thinking about this week is The Dash that represents the amount of time we live on this earth.  For instance my Dash looks like this right now.  1981–20??. I almost have 29 years behind me and who know how many years/days I have left.

What am I doing with The Dash?  Am I just letting the days pass by hoping that tomorrow will be a better day?  Or am I waking up saying wow, God your given me another day to leave a mark on this world that will last forever?  I gotta admit that most days I wake up and when I lay my head down at night it was just another day.

Today I have been reading two books written to encourage teenagers to do something with their Dash.  They have challenged me.  15 years from now I don’t want to read Half Time and regret that I didn’t make a bigger difference with the first half of my Dash.

It is time to increase my Faith in the things God is laying on my heart and “Do Hard Things” so when my body is Stationed in the ground people will praise the God who allowed me to leave a mark on this world for His Glory.
