What a Declaration

For some yesterday was a good day to be an American. For others it was filled with sadness and unbelief. America has an officially Declared our 47th President and although for many there is hope, for others there is heartbreak. This is the reality of an earthly kingship/Government. We will be disappointed. It is impossible to please everyone. Trump may accomplish some of the things he declares to do, but other agendas will fall short.

So this morning, I woke and read Psalm 145. This is a declaration about who God is and let me tell you this DECLARATION is something to get excited about.

Psalm 145

You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing. The Lord is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.

The Lord watches over all who love him…

My hope is built on who God is, nothing more, nothing less. The Circumstances on life will always disappoint, but God is faithful. Call on Him, He hears you. Call on Him, He can save you. Call on Him for He DECLARES you are loved!

Election Results- Seeing Others

The preacher got up and started talking about the election results, but his focus was a little bit different. He questioned whether or not you were able to see the excitement and disappointment of others. In these moments it’s easy to focus on how we feel. The emotions are real.

The pastor quickly turned our focus from ourselves to seeing others, to communion, which focused all of us on Jesus. We then sang songs of worship focused on God, before He got up to teach.

He Preached on Jesus pointing out to His disciples, the poor women, whom he saw give her everything at the Temple. Others should have been caring for her, but here she was down to her very last and she continued to give. Jesus saw her.

On the Sunday after the Election our Pastor saw us. Democrat, Republican, and those so confused they didn’t want to vote. He saw us and pointed us to the one who can carry our burdens. Jesus loves you. He sees you. In your pain, sorrow, brokenness. In your joy, hope and pride. Jesus sees you!

This week may we turn a corner. May we start to see others. May we start healthy conversations of listening and learning from one another.

My Faith Requires me to HOPE

Wow has the world ever changed since I left full time ministry. I have to admit I have been struggling to be hopeful lately. Between open borders, and the US economy and how it is impacting people at a local level, and now the Crisis in Israel, in many ways I’m thinking we are done. As I am discouraged I find myself shifting my mentality from a hopeful, peaceful attitude to one of self preservation. How do I protect myself and my family from what I believe seems to be coming?

Then yesterday as I engage in a LifeStation Discovery Bible Discussion with a few friends I am challenge to think differently. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation”. “God is reconciling the world to Himself”. Followers of Jesus are his ministers, they are His ambassadors….ok I can’t give up, I can’t lose hope. My faith requires me to lean in and hope in the midst of the most hopeless situations.

Today I read Psalms 119:49-56. “The promises of God have given me Hope”. “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promises preserve my life.” “I remember your ancient laws and I find comfort in them”. “Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I make my home….This has been my practice: I obey your precepts.

Today, with all that is going on in the world I am choosing to allow the Hope and Peace of God to guide me. I am choosing to continue to practice the ways of Jesus as I desire to be an ambassador of Christ to those around me. God may this start in my home and then go with me wherever my life is stationed today!
