Overwhelmed

It is a word that I have used a lot in my Journal these days.  I could very easily say I am overwhelmed as a result of the journey I am planting a Church.  I could I am overwhelmed because I kids haven’t been sleeping or listening like Nicole and I hope.  But I am not overwhelmed with those things.

These days I am becoming more and more OVERWHELMED with how good my God is.  As I read the Scriptures (right now I am in Jeremiah) and live life I am how incredibly patient and loving God is to us.

I am overwhelmed with the idea that the God of the Bible practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth.  Jeremiah 9:24.  I am overwhelmed that He invites us to obey His voice so that it may be well us.

He is GOOD.  He is God. And with that I am overwhelmed that Jesus made away for you and I to experience the loving presence of God not just in the future but here and now.

Joy made complete

Think about this.

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you may have fellowship with us.  And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.  We write this to  make our joy complete.” 1 John 1:3-4

The disciples have “heard, seen, and touched” Jesus.  They now proclaim fellowship with both God and Jesus, and they say they write & proclaim so that their joy can be complete.  Recently I have heard a lot of people (Christians) say things like “I’m ready to do whatever it takes to be happy”.  And what they mean is they are ready to pursue things not of God to try and find happiness.

Study the Bible with me to uncover what it means to have your Joy made complete.  So far I believe it is linked to knowing God’s love and sharing God’s love.  I believe in 1 John He is saying I have seen Jesus, I know and have fellowship with God, but my Joy is not complete until I tell others about Him.

Are Christians miserable because they simply know God and are not sharing Him with others?  Are we missing out on the complete Joy of God because we are unwilling to share Him with a world that desperately needs Him?

Still remembering Christmas

This morning I woke to go through fixed our prayer (see other post) and as I was reading through the prayers my heart was pricked.  I was immediately thrown in to the story of Christmas as I am thinking about somethin I never thought about before.

The Word of God teaches that King Herod wanted to kill baby Jesus and when he could not find Him he ordered all the baby boys 2 years old an younger to be killed.  That’s my son Jake.  Why God would you allow all the babies in an entire region to be killed?

The heart ache that so many mothers and fathers most have felt.  The triumph and freedom given as baby Jesus survived this regional catestrophy to live and die on a cross so that all men might be saved.  Glory to God.

This morning as I prayed I was challenged to think about the children who died, the families who suffered all for the sake of Christ.   Written December 28th.
